We had just gotten some Ninjago Time Blades and a Wizard’s hat, so the boys wanted this set’s main character to be a Time Wizard. He stands on top of a tower with large rotating blades crackling with ice lightning that power portals to different dimensions. Energy cores and amulets lie randomly around this keep, and an odd anglerfish watches on as the wizard plans his next conquest.

The electric windmill powers doorways scattered all over the wizard’s tower. The head of a giant dragon with rock crystals in its jaws extends from one of these doors, with its tail swinging out from the opposite side of the structure.

Another portal marked with a pearl gold shield has a small water corridor that links the tower to Nya’s Waterfall. It is guarded by Orion and a Zamor sphere cannon. Paco built a heavy swinging door with a pink flask as its hinge. This door leads to the Time Wizard’s basement clutter, where a forgotten silver key is stored for safekeeping. The second floor of the tower is a lounge area with refreshments. Surrounding it are several transparent portals guarded by a watch owl.

Matti likes making books out of stacked square jumper plates, an idea he got from the Galileo Ideas set. So we built a bookshelf into the Wizard’s office on the third level. To make this bookshelf extra magical, we included a thick book with dragon eyes and multi-colored potions. We had fun building the wizard’s busy desk, which had crystals, an inkwell, a map, and a stein of butter beer cluttered over it. The Time Wizard also has a ghostly assistant to watch over his workspace.

He was also fascinated when he discovered that the anchor piece fits into a stud shooter. We found a place in the basement to place his anchor launcher where it would guard the Wizard’s chest that hides treasure and a gilded hourglass.

The Time Wizard’s Tower was the central build for our Doorways submission, and the different portals within the structure teleports both heroes and villains to the different areas of this world. Click on the links below to visit the others!
